During a special inspection visit at Port of Galle, State Minister of Ports Development stated that a new Yacht Marina Zone will be established soon in the port of Galle to promote tourism.
Sri Lanka is expected to commence the breakwater development of the port of Galle and to dock all the passenger vessels to Galle at the outer port area to further strengthen facilities for tourism promotional activities at the port.
After the Tsunami in 2004 the Galle Port had been damaged but the basic facilities were restored in 2015. The proposed development will provide a fully-fledged Yacht Marina Zone for the Galle Port with the motive of making the port a tourist attraction & tourist port.
The gifted Galle city already has so many attractions, such as coastal beds with pure blue oceans and coral reefs, tropical rain forests, legends attached, the colossal Dutch Fortress, a world heritage site and archeological artifacts. Adding to the list the port of Galle also will be an amazing attraction for luxury tourists visiting Sri Lanka with its first ever Yacht Marina Zone in the country.
